After months of planning and renovating at 155 Chandler St. in Buffalo's Black Rock Neighborhood, Buffalo Cider Hall will celebrate their grand opening this Friday.

The hall is owned and operated by Scott Donovan, the president of Blackbird Cider Works.

"Buffalo Cider Hall is going to be an outlet for Blackbird Cider Works hard ciders, we'll have, in fact right now we have 10 on our draft lines over here. Additionally we'll be carrying some guest ciders and then we'll be carrying Western New York beers on draft as well and then we'll have a case that will include local wineries and some local distilleries too," Donovan said.

Blackbird Cider Works will still be making cider at their location in the village of Barker in Niagara County. The tasting room there will also continue as normal, but they've taken part of the orchard and brought it to the city.

"Our tap handles, they're actually made from cuttings from our orchard that we lacquered so that's our markers, apple wood tap markers," said Donovan.

Mixing them in with the industrial look that was preserved from the former factory building.

"We like this space, I like the industrial look, it blends well with our agricultural roots and that's what this space is going to be about, cider, beer, and celebrating Buffalo's connection with agriculture and the transportation of agricultural products," said Donovan.

And with other breweries and tasting rooms on track to also open on Chandler Street in the coming months, it's sure to be a new destination for many.

"I think the vibe is going to be a little trendy, we're going to have a menu and our drinks that are fun and exciting, so in addition to probably the largest selection of cider in the city of Buffalo, we're going to have cider cocktails, we're going to have regular cocktails made with all New York state farm distilled products," said Donovan.

Inside the cider hall, there will be spaces available for private parties, and outside on the patio, they'll have fire pits to keep you warm this fall, and they even have plans for the courtyard when we thaw out after winter.

"There's a lot of plans for this courtyard in terms of events and activities, we're planning on organizing a bocce ball league for the spring," said Donovan.

Buffalo Cider Hall's grand opening will be October 19 at 4 p.m. From there, they'll be open Wednesday through Sunday.
