A Chautauqua County hunter faces up to three years in state prison after admitting to fatally shooting a woman last fall.

Thomas Jadlowski, 33, accepted a plea in Chautauqua County court Thursday.

He pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide for shooting Rosemary Billquist to death while she was out walking her dogs in a field hundreds of feet way behind her home last November.

As part of the deal, he faces one to three years in prison and waived his right to appeal.

"It's been pretty nerve racking for a while, but I feel we got justice today,” said Jamie Billquist, Rosemary’s husband. “We're going to move forward, and that's what I want and remember the good things about Rosemary instead of going through a long lengthy trial, I just feel we got justice today we're going in the right direction."

"At the end of the day what we wanted was ad mission of guilt, a taking of responsibility and some level of punishment we felt was fair and just,” said Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson.

Jadlowski was sent back to the Chautauqua County jail, with no bail set.

He will be sentenced on January 14th.
