The New York Police Department says a 12-year-old girl who went missing Wednesday has reached out to family and is safe. The Washington County Sheriff's Office says deputies are en route to New York City to retrieve her.

An AMBER Alert has been cancelled for Malaya Johnson. The Washington County Sheriff's Office says both of the men she was believed to be with have been located and one is in custody.

George Torres, 19 of Staten Island, was arraigned Friday and pleaded not guilty to one count of kidnapping and one count of child endangerment charges. He’s due back in Kingsbury Town Court on Wednesday.

There is no word on the status of the other suspect at this time.

The girl was not with the men at the time they were found.

Police believe Malaya left Hudson Falls Middle School Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m., and was initially seen in the area of the Staten Island Ferry Thursday afternoon between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
