Delaware Park is the place to be each morning--whether it's for biking, running or teeing off.

While most are trying to beat the heat while making their heart's race---others like Brian Guy--are adding layers and some pounds.

Brian Guy, first assistant chief for the East Seneca Volunteer Fire Company, took his morning run with an additional 60 pounds on his back.

It’s all in preparation for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K. Siller was a firefighter who ran toward the Twin Towers during the attacks on September 11, 2001.

"It was certainly a horrendous attack on America,” Guy said. “It' s something we need to keep alive, the memory of that and the heroes."

After attending the Tunnel to Towers 5K in NYC, where he was joined by “30,000 of your closest friends from all over the world,” he brought the event back to Buffalo.

On September 8th, more than 500 people are expected to gear up or lace up for the cause at the Bellevue Fire Department in Cheektowaga.

Money raised from 5ks around the nation goes to the Smart Home Program to help give catastrophically injured vets a new start.

So far, two homes have been built in East Aurora changing the life of two local vets.

So if you plan on going, remember, this run isn't about having the best time, rather taking the time to remember.
