WATERFORD, N.Y. — The Waterford community gathered Tuesday to remember a teen that meant so much to so many.

Family, friends and neighbors paid their respects to Anthony Blaauboer during calling hours on Tuesday evening.

The 14-year-old's body was found last Thursday in the Mohawk River after he went missing on Wednesday.

Blaauboer lived with autism, but his parents say his kindness, humor and sense of adventure set him apart.

Community members say they're going to miss seeing his smiling face around town.

"Fond memories. We used to stop and talk to him all the time and he would stop and talk to us," said Sgt. Robert van Bramer, of the Waterford Police Department. "He used to have little sales in front of his house, little garage sales and we would stop and talk to him and you’d just see him all the time."

A memorial service will be held at Legacy Church in Delmar Wednesday at 10 a.m.
