It was quiet for the kids heading back to school early, but we did have showers and storms developing for the afternoon as the east and west coast sea breeze moved inland.

A similar setup is expected through mid-week before drier air moves in and drops rain chances for the end of the week.

The storms that developed Monday ended early and the rest of the night will be quiet. Expect partly cloudy skies as we head toward daybreak on Tuesday. Temperatures will be warm, falling into the mid-70s.

Your morning commute or trip to school will be quiet as we wake up to plenty of sunshine Tuesday morning.

Temperatures will heat up fast, in the mid to low 90s for the afternoon with the humidity making it feel even hotter.

Wednesday will remain the same, but drier air will start to move back in, which will help to lower rain chances for Thursday and into the weekend.

There will still be a slight chance for afternoon storms, but the coverage will be much smaller. Temperatures will stay hot.

Tropical Forecast

In the tropics, the Atlantic remains relatively quiet. Cooler than average ocean temperatures, strong winds aloft and dry air are keeping most of the activity at bay right now.

There continues to be one area of disturbed weather in the North Central Atlantic that is still being watched for potential development.

The chances remain low and if it does develop it will be likely a Subtropical Storm because it is not well organized. Regardless, this will have no impact on land.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs through Nov. 30, 2018.
