BUFFALO, N.Y. — Revenue from the largest two-day festival in America isn’t solely coming from food sales.

Plenty of income will also come from parking fees.

Hundreds of thousands are expected to attend Taste of Buffalo.

Visitors told Spectrum News they haven’t had much problems finding parking, but have dealt with disputes on how much they should pay.

“The sign was advertising one thing and the computer program was advertising another,” said Michael Cardinali about a Pay 2 Park lot on Franklin Street.

Another man told Spectrum News he experienced the same issue.

In order to get a special $7 daily rate, guests were prompted to use an app.

George Davis said he had no luck in getting the special rate and the mobile app declined his parking reservation.

“I downloaded the app, it's saying it's unavailable because of the event downtown,” said Davis. “It’s bogus."

Davis ended up paying double the price to park.

There is a mix of public, special event and street parking available for the festival this weekend. Visitors said they mainly had problems at special event parking sites and attendants increasing parking prices.

“My friend went up the street and she told me the sign said $10 and then the guy told her that she had to pay $15,” said one driver.

The Taste added a new partnership with the app Spot Hero to help with parking.

“Download the app on your iPhone and get a parking spot before you get here,” said Taste of Buffalo Second Vice Chair Erin Collins.

The owner of the Pay 2 Park lot did not immediately return a request for comment.
