LEWISTON, N.Y.--It's the wakeup call no one wants.

"Well I found out about quarter to five in the morning. The burglar alarm went off,” said Sacred Heart Villa School Principal, Sister Elizabeth Domin.

But it turns out that in the wee hours of morning on Wednesday, the intruder at Lewiston’s Sacred Heart Villa School—was water.

"First thing I saw was about two feet of water all over the backyard and everything floating around,” said Domin,"Then when it got a little more daylight we could see ourselves where it was coming from and we saw the water bubbling out of the ground over by the back fence."

The aftermath of that water main break is apparent outside of the school's chapel.

But inside, is the stuff of nightmares.

"The auditorium, they say they're going to try to salvage the stage, but what else is going to be salvaged, we don't know. The drywall is gone. So the whole auditorium has to be redone on the inside,” said Domin.

As of now, the school doesn’t have a total estimate on the damage just yet, as they're currently working that out with their insurance company.

In the meantime, they're keeping the school motto close to their hearts.

"God is here and he's the one that running this. It's his decision for it to happen and we have to live through it,” said Domin.

School was back in session on Thursday and Domin says they'll use the upcoming summer break to repair as much damage as possible.

A Sacred Heart parent has started a Gofundme page for the school's repairs. You can find that page, here.
