BUFFALO, NY – Several dozen animals have been returned to their rightful owners with the help of Sherlock Bones Lost and Hound Recovery.

The process of finding the pets involves the use of fliers and posts on social media.

Sherlock Bones also uses bait and humane cages to trap stray pets.

Spectrum News Sports Anchor Kevin Carroll’s dog, Peanut, turned up in one of their cages after running off in the Williamsville area last month.

The group uses trail cams to monitor movement in the cages, making it easy for the seven members within the pet recovery group to respond immediately.

"We have cellular trail cam that comes in on our phone so we don't even need to be there,” said Sherlock Bones co-founder Beth Henderson. “Once we drop the food, there's no foot traffic at all. It comes in our phone.”

Sherlock Bones offers all of their services free of charge.
