Some potentially good news for Southern Tier travelers: The Chautauqua County-Jamestown Airport might resume service soon.

Congressman Tom Reed and Chautauqua County Executive George Borello say Boutique Air has submitted a proposal to the Department of Transportation to provide air service there under the Enterprise Air Service (EAS) program.

Leaders say that program provides essential funding for small airports by providing subsidies for flights to smaller markets that airlines typically wouldn't offer.

The airport has been without any air service for the past five months after Southern Airways was cut from federal EAS funding in January due to the small amount of customers flying out of the airport.
