KeyBank and the Niagara Police Athletic League have stepped forward to ensure the show will go on for the 2018 Independence Day fireworks display at Hyde Park.

A total of $25,000 was donated between the two organizations to fund this year’s show.

Earlier this month, the city council unanimously voted down a proposal to pay for the fireworks from the city budget.

Councilmembers say that initial decision was made because of the city's current budget constraints.

City leaders say it's great to see businesses come in and help support the community.

"KeyBank Foundation sponsors fireworks displays in other communities. They saw a need and wanted to help out and we really appreciate it," said Nick Milson, Niagara Falls’ city administrator.

Private donors previously offered to work to raise money for the display as well.
