OSWEGO, N.Y. — Reality Check, New York's youth group against tobacco marketing, is joining Sen. Charles Schumer's stance on e-cigarettes.

He recently called on the Food and Drug Administration to not allow sales of these products to teenagers.

Schumer is also calling on the FDA to ban "kid-friendly" flavors that resemble whipped cream, cookies and candy.

Reality Check officials representing Oswego, Onondaga and Cayuga County are fighting tobacco use including e-cigs.

Coordinators believe parents can help fight the problem.

"Part of it is that education of parents to make sure they're diligent in knowing what's out there and what's impacting their young people and then being able to have those conversations with their teens about it," said Reality Check Coordinator Kathleen Knopp-Haney.

Last weekend Schumer applauded a group of Scarsdale High School teens who created a video warning against the dangers of e-cigarettes like Juul.
