Thousands paraded around Canalside to show love and support for those affected by multiple sclerosis.

The annual Walk MS Buffalo helps raise money for life-changing research and services.

This year the walk raised more than $250,000 and counting.

MS affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide. Rates in Western New York are double the National Average.

For many, being supported by loved one can mean more than treatment.

“My father couldn't be here today because sometimes he's just not feeling well enough to,” said Physician Jeanne Lomas. “So, to have other people, family members and friends supporting and raising awareness in their honor, whether they are sick or passed away, is really important."

Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50.

Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis.
