Michael Caputo, a political consultant from Western New York, spent Wednesday with members of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team as part of their investigation into possible Russian collusion.

Caputo, who worked on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016, also met with staffers for the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday as part of the same investigation.

He says there was a big difference between the two meetings, calling Tuesday’s meeting “net fishing” and Wednesday’s interview with Mueller’s team “spear fishing.”

The questioning focused on Russian collusion, but Caputo said he was never specifically asked about President Trump. While Caputo says he never saw any evidence of collusion with Russia during his work on the campaign, he says the special counsel knows more about the campaign than he did.

"I think the Mueller team knew more about what I did in 2016 than I knew myself,” he said. “I think they know more about the Trump campaign than anyone that ever worked there. These guys have got every single email, anything that's ever gone down and they're clearly focused on trying to identify some Russian collusion. They have texts, not just emails. I believe quite a bit of those they have spreadsheets full of information that I'm sure they have on every person that they're going to interview. These are very, very thorough and professional interviews that feels more like an interrogation than an interview."

He says anyone who is mentioned in the investigation is in peril, saying they are very focused on bringing someone in.
