As the weather warms up, AAA says it is already getting calls from people looking to plan summer road trips. But experts recommend checking your car before hitting the road.

With so many potholes around Buffalo, it's important to have an expert look for hidden damages like tire damage or an off alignment.

Experts say to check car fluids and change filters, and while most believe cold weather is what kills your car's battery, the heat is just as likely to kill it.

One other thing to consider before planning trips is the price of gas. April had the highest demand on record for gas usage in the country, and prices continue to rise.

"So many people took road trips for spring break and headed down to Florida and warmer places so that increased the demand, at the same time, oil prices are up so that's driving prices up too,” said Elizabeth Carey, AAA public relations director.

AAA projects gas prices could hit $3 per gallon sometime this summer.
