East Amherst residents will have to wait until June to find out whether they’ll have 80 houses filled with new neighbors.

The Amherst Town Board is delaying its determination until it receives a sewer analysis.

Developers want to build dozens of new homes near Millersport Highway, but people who live near the proposed homes are concerned about the possible effects of the $35 million project in an area already prone to flooding.

“We will have serious flooding,” says Rosemary Conely, one of those residents. “As a matter of fact, we live on Autumn Meadows Pond and it’s creeping up to our yard right now with all the rain we’ve had, so it’s a serious concern.”

The town board anticipates a decision will be made by June 4.
