BUFFALO, N.Y. — There are dozens of buffalo statues throughout the ‘City of Good Neighbors,’ and one in the Lovejoy community has gone missing.

"I saw a vacant spot where our buffalo was and said ‘where's our buffalo?’" said Richard Fontana, Lovejoy District councilmember.

The once familiar bust is no longer standing at the corner of William and Greene Streets.

Neighbors are trying to figure what use anyone would have for the statue.

"I don't know, why would someone take a buffalo, man?” said resident Anthony Wilson.

The more than 300-pound figure stood in front of KB Holdings for years before it closed.

Fontana is now trying to locate its whereabouts and is asking for the public’s help.

"The city taxpayers already paid for this buffalo, it’s their buffalo, we all live in Buffalo. We want to see this animal return to its rightful place,” said Fontana.

Anyone with information about the missing statue can contact Fontana’s office at 716-851-5151 or email rfontana@city-buffalo.com.
