BUFFALO, N.Y. — After building their second health clinic on Buffalo’s east side years ago, directors of Jericho Road discovered a growing need for health providers in the area.

"Patients are really catching multiple rides to get to the primary care doctor or a lot of them are over utilizing the ER because of lack of access to primary care — which brought us to the point that we're now expanding to this community," said Magdalena Nichols, Jericho Road chief officer of development.

The health care provider is working with nine nonprofit organizations, including the Mental Health Association, Every Person Influences Children (EPIC) and Parent Network.

As a result of those partnerships, Nichols said more than 500 jobs will be created in the Broadway-Fillmore area.

Jericho Road is well-known for its community outreach and refugee clinic.

In building its third location at 1021 Broadway Street, Jericho Road hopes to strengthen their presence as medical providers with patients on Buffalo’s east side.

"Some of our patients already are excited about us going to the new location,” said Medical Director Dr. Jewell Henley. “That really does make a difference in their comfort level. Many of the patients already live in the community so they are excited about being able to see a familiar face.”

The Broadway Jericho Road will have two additional providers.

The clinic will open and begin welcoming patients on July 9, 2018.
