Athletes hit the gridiron at New Era Field to raise money for the Special Olympics.

25 teams from across the state competed in the Second Annual New York Snow Bowl Saturday afternoon.

The flag-football tournament helps cover training costs and fees for local athletes in the Special Olympics.

This year's event is expected to raise more than $50,000.

"As soon as we hit $7,000 I just said hey guys that’s 14 athletes we raised and that makes us beyond happy,” said participant David Kohlze.

"I was really proud of my team,” said Kyle Conniff, who also participated. “Everyone had free entry. Everyone was so excited about the cause that they decided to raise the money anyone so it was really awesome."
