BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A North Buffalo woman was out on her morning walk died after she was hit by a Buffalo Police Department cruiser, responding to a call.

The victim's husband identified her as 64-year old Susan LoTempio.

The officer, a six-year veteran not initially identified by name, was en route to Starin Avenue when, around 6:30 a.m., LoTempio was hit near the intersection of Hertel Avenue and Tennyson Avenue.

The officer, dispatched from D District, is cooperating with the investigation. The internal investigation has already begun. State Police and the state Attorney General's Office are also investigating.

There are still a lot of questions unanswered, like where exactly LoTempio was at the time of the accident, how fast the cruiser was going and if the officer had turned on the lights and sirens.
