WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — UB Bulls fans filled Santora’s Pizza in Williamsville Monday to watch the women's basketball team upset the third-seeded Florida State Seminoles 86-65 to move onto the Sweet 16 for the first in team history.

UB Assistant Athletic Director Elaine Russell says the team's success is no surprise to her.

"Those of us that are closest to the program, we've seen these student athletes and these coaches prep and play and compete all year, and we're just really excited to actually see them have this kind of success on the national stage because we know how great they are," Russell said.

UB's game Monday night was in Tallahassee, but their Sweet 16 matchup against the second-seed South Carolina Gamecocks will be Saturday in Albany.

UB fan Roger Roll says he'll be there and to expect a big crowd in blue.

"Anybody that's been a Bulls fan all season long now has the opportunity to go support the Bulls, and every game is history. The fact that we've gone this far, and Albany is honestly almost like a home game," Roll said.

UB'S game Saturday will tip off at 11:30 a.m. and will be shown on ESPN.
