Hundreds of firefighters and civilians started their Saturday by climbing to the top of One Seneca Tower in downtown Buffalo.

The 8th annual Fight for Air Climb raises money for the American Lung Association. It's a twist on a typical 5k run and gives climbers an idea of some of the daily struggles people with lung diseases might go through.

"Once they get to the top, they have that feeling where they can't catch their breath, and they can just take a moment to think about, woah what does someone with lung disease feel like all the time," said Kelli Hanson, Development Manager at American Lung Association.

And once climbers did reach the top of 800 steps, they were able to rest while taking in the view of the Queen City.

This year's goal is to raise $186,000, about $10,000 more than last year.

Donations are still being taken until April 7. To donate, visit action.lung.org/buffaloclimb.
