BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The snow has receded for a spell, and potholes are keeping city work crews and mechanics occupied.

"There's no question this season has been quite busier than the last few. Our alignment rack has been busy eight hours a day, our tire delivery are steady, people are looking and seeing that they're doing steering and suspension damage. Compared to the last few years, we all know that we just didn't see the potholes as we do this year," said Rocky Casullo of Casullo's Automotive Services.

City of Buffalo full time crews are working to fill as many as possible and quickly as they can.

"The conditions we're seeing out there now are usually the things we see in April, later on in the season based on the temperatures the way they level off," said Public Works Commissioner Steve Stepniak. "The one thing that does react negatively with is a lot of moisture, when we get these times and we have the meltdown and we have water in the potholes and things like that, it's not as effective so we have to do repeat applications that's why we need folks to continue to call them in."

After someone calls 311 to report a pothole, Stepniak crews will typically fix the potholes within 48 hours.
