The NFTA confirms a ticket inspector was fired after a confrontation with a passenger.

In a video captured on the victim’s phone, a woman is heard swearing and yelling “when I hit you, you’ll know” repeatedly.

The altercation happened Tuesday at the Summer-Best Street Metro Rail Station.

Transit police say ticket inspector Yvonne Stewart stopped the woman from getting onto a train and told her she needed a new ticket.

Officers say the passenger was confused about her ticket and got off at the wrong stop.

It’s at that point Stewart starts yelling and swearing at the passenger.

NFTA leaders confirm Stewart was fired after they reviewed the video.

In a statement, the NFTA director of public affairs expresses “our sincere apology to the rider” and to “convey our shock and embarrassment over this incident.  This is not reflective of our 1500 employees at the NFTA who are deeply committed to serving our community in a kind and professional manner. "

The statement adds that Stewart, who started at NFTA in August 2017, was terminated immediately and that an investigation is ongoing.
