The daughter of a former lieutenant with the Buffalo Police Department is speaking out after allegedly being raped at a Hard Rock Hotel.

"I was and still am devastated by this unexpected and violent sexual assault on me,” said Kristen Hernandez.

In April 2017, Hernandez went on a family vacation at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya Resort in Mexico.

Hernandez says a hotel worker who had been previously pestering her at the pool knocked on her hotel room door with a bottle of champagne. Believing her brother ordered the bottle, Hernandez let him in.

She says after the hotel worker poured himself a glass of champagne, she asked him to leave. Instead, Hernandez says she was forced in the bathroom and raped.

Hernandez sought treatment for multiple injuries at a hospital in Mexico—treatment she says left her with nerve damage. She is now in a wrist brace indefinitely and can no longer work as a nurse.

"Since I must always wear this brace, I am constantly reminded or the rape and injuries on me and from which I still suffer," said Hernandez.

According to Hernandez’s lawyer, Hard Rock International denied corporate responsibility for the actions of the hotel worker, the alleged stalking, unlawful imprisonment and rape.

Hernandez is now calling on the Better Business Bureau to investigate Hard Rock International, a Florida-based company.
