BLASDELL, N.Y. — Gov. Andrew Cuomo is considering eliminating state minimum wage tip credits for employees at places like restaurants.

His office will examine whether to require tipped workers to receive the standard minimum wage.

Linking tipping practices to higher rates of sexual harassment and racial profiling.

Restaurants in Western New York are pushing back on the idea.

One owner says the change would increase menu prices and put restaurants at risk.

Veteran servers say a flat minimum wage would eliminate the incentive to provide quality service.

"These are just family-owned businesses. These are your neighbors, these are people that give back to the community just trying to survive and they provide so many jobs for the community and it will be hard to survive without that tax credit," said Nicole Levesque, Ilio DiPaolo's server.

Cuomo will evaluate data collected by the Commissioner of Labor before making a decision.
