NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The new Cardiac-Stroke Care Unit at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital was revealed Thursday.

The $4.3 billion project provides 23 private rooms for patients with some of the most advanced technology in Western New York.

Officials say the decision to dedicate a cardiac and stroke unit was specifically made to meet the needs of the community.

"When you have a stroke, time is of the essence. We don't have to go to Buffalo anymore, we can do it here in the most advanced lab, I believe, in the entire state of New York," said Angelo Morinello, (R) Assembly - Niagara Falls.

The unit also features a physical therapy space right on the same floor for patients.
