NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — After almost a week without it, the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is flush with water pressure.

A water main break at 47th Street and Niagara Falls Boulevard prevented the medical center from doing basic tasks such as flushing toilets, using showers or just running faucets.

Despite the water issues, the team at Memorial continued their important work.

"I always think a real measure of the kind of team that you have is the way that a team responds to crisis and the team that we have here has been amazing, I would even say inspirational," said Patrick Bradley, NFMMC director of Communications and Emergency Management.

While the situation inside the Medical Center improves, the work for the city continues.

On Thursday, the Niagara Falls Water Board announced a $292,000 contract with CATCO to fix the problem.

The board hopes the contract leads to quality work.

"Our concern is for our ratepayers, our taxpayers, to be able to resolve this situation as soon as possible. You can rest assured that the contractor as well feels the same way. Time is money to a contractor. They want to resolve this as quick as possible and fix it right the first time," said Bob Drury, Niagara Falls Water Board superintendent of Operations.

Contractors are still going through their initial assessment and no timeline for completion is available at this time.
