JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The city of Jamestown has scored big, as it once again hosted World Juniors Hockey exhibition play.

Teams wrapped up two days of practice rounds at the Northwest Arena on Thursday night.

Players were preparing for two weeks of competition in Buffalo starting next week.

Business leaders say the event has helped boost the local economy, as area hotels and restaurants added additional staff to handle the crowds.

"It's great that we can showcase our community to the community outside of ours, actually globally. And it's a unique time to showcase what we have to offer in our town," said Kurt Johnson, Shawbucks owner.

The arena last hosted the exhibition games for the World Juniors back in 2010.
