CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Tens of millions of Americans — an estimated 51 million in total — are hitting the roads, skies and tracks to be with family for Thanksgiving.

For Terrie Hynes, she's meeting some of her relatives for the first time.

The Painted Post native was anxiously awaiting her flight to Arizona at Buffalo Niagara International Airport Wednesday morning, preparing to fly across the country to meet a sister she didn't know she had until earlier this year.

Hynes got the news at Easter and learned that her long-lost sister used to live in Elmira. This will be the first time they are together.

"I'm sad in a sense I didn't have her growing up, but happy we are reconnected," Hynes said.

Hynes says she has a lot to be thankful for, especially this year.
