BUFFALO, N.Y. — Sunday's mass shooting in a Texas church is prompting local congregations to take a closer look at their own safety protocols.

True Bethel Baptist Church on Buffalo's east side is leading the charge for a group of churches who want parishioners to undergo active shooter training.

According to Pastor Darius Pridgen, his security team has already been training with the Buffalo Police Department for about a year.

Pridgen says with multiple services and hundreds of members, the best time to do the training will be on a Sunday morning, sometime soon.

Right now, it’s all just a matter of coordinating with Buffalo police.

"If it can happen in Texas or Waco or New York City or Austin, it can happen in Buffalo. And so we want to make sure we're prepared,” said Pridgen

He's also hoping to have that training filmed, so they can share it with others.
