Gord Downie, frontman for the band The Tragically Hip, has died following a battle with brain cancer.
The Canadian rocker was diagnosed in 2016.
The band has a strong following in Western New York, including local tribute band The Strictly Hip.
Fans gathered in Larkin Square last year to watch a broadcast of Downie's farewell show from the band's home in Kingston, Ontario.
Downie had a new record scheduled for release on October 27.
