ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Stepped up security will once again be in place for Sunday's home opener at New Era Field.
Members of the FBI, state police and other agencies are reminding fans to get to the stadium about an hour and a half before kickoff and be prepared to remove things like glasses cases, cellphones and cameras before going through the metal detectors.
The joint security effort started two years ago and it appears to be working.
According to the Erie County Sheriff's Office, they've dropped to an all-time low of only two arrests per game. In 2015, they saw an average of three to four.
Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard says it’s also a testament to better fan behavior.
"The pattern continues to decrease, in part because of the law enforcement presence, in partnership with the Bills and fan behavior efforts that have been made there. It's partnership that includes the fans, we clearly see or fans are better behaved each year,” said Howard.
