The Town of Amherst Board passed an "offensive" resolution Monday night to hire an outside an attorney to consult on the town's review of the former Westwood Country Club.

Mensch Capital Partners is at odds with the board, arguing the lawyer could be researching eminent domain and comdenation issues.

The company called the move offensive in light of its $250 million plan to redevelop the country club it unveiled three years ago. Mensch is planning to build residential, retail and professional office space at the site.

The company said it also set aside almost half the property to remain open green space in addition to creating a 45-acre town park.
