DEPEW, N.Y. -- Open for 16 years, Forestview Restaurant in Depew knows just how important it is to be able to showcase "cuisine outside the routine.” It's one of more than 200 places participating in Local Restaurant Week.

A favorite of Forestfiew is the  chicken souvlaki, with eggs, home fries, toast and then also a chicken souvlaki salad. There's also a beef and lamb option. The restaurant is open 24/7 so there are lunch and dinner options too!

Managers say they expect a 25 to 50 percent rise in business throughout the event.

The goal of local restaurant week is to get people to break away from eating at chains and grab forkfuls of unique and local flavors. Managers add while this is a great way to grow the customer base, there's something else they enjoy.

"We have a lot of repeat business and it's just a nice way to say thank you for them in continuing to support us,” Louann Procyshyn, manager at Forestview Restaurant said.

"It's amazing, I mean you meet more new people, you get your regulars in,” Kira Hooper, a server said.  “A lot of times they come in just for the server and also for the food."

There are specials at all participating restaurant, where the price is $20.17, $30.17 or $40.17.

Local Restaurant Week kicks off Monday and runs through Sunday.
