A young girl living with autism is using her creativity to spread awareness about the condition and her struggle.

Autism Services and Atrium 124 Gallery in Buffalo are featuring the local 9-year-old girl's art. The collection, "Kristin Maggio : Journey of a Young Artist" debuted at the gallery Friday. Organizers say the young girl's work provides a powerful message.

"For children on the autism spectrum, communication is one of the most challenging feats for them and the arts have really given her a voice to speak about the things that are of interest to her," said Veronica Federiconio, Autism Services executive director.

The exhibit will be available for viewing by appointment through next Friday.
