A man is dead after a rollover crash in Bloomfield late Tuesday night.

State Police were originally called to Gauss Road near Oakmount Avenue for the report of a pedestrian struck around 9:30 p.m.

When investigators got to the scene they instead found that the driver of a car was thrown from his vehicle in a crash.

They say it appears the vehicle drifted off the road and hit a ditch, rolling several times.

The driver, 23-year-old Patrick McNamara was found outside the vehicle. He died at the scene.

Police say no one saw the crash happen.

"There is someone that lived across the street that saw the person in the roadway, but no one observed the accident at this time," said Sgt. Timothy Buckholz, New York State Police. "A couple people heard the crash and came up to investigate and found the deceased.

State police continue to investigate what led up to the crash.
