A four-day sweep by Immigration and Customs Enforcement led to 40 arrests in Western New York.
Those arrested include 35 men and five women from 13 countries.
One was a Canadian man who'd been convicted of sexual assault and another was a Mexican national with domestic violence and firearm convictions.
Arrests were also made in other parts of the state.
ICE says the enforcement action targeted at-large criminal immigrants, people re-entering the country illegally, fugitives and other violators.
