DERBY, N.Y. — Six men ice fishing on Lake Erie had to be rescued by helicopter after an ice shift left them 150 yards from shore.

Erie County Sheriff Aviation Unit respond to the call just after 1 p.m. Sunday near the Sturgeon Point Marina.

The helicopter flew the men to shore, where additional emergency crews were on hand. The fishermen were not injured. 

The Erie County Sheriff's office is using this incident to remind the public to use extreme caution when out on the ice.
