Former top Cuomo aide and confidant Joe Percoco was sentenced today to six years behind bars--that's one year less than former assembly speaker Sheldon Silver received for his corruption conviction.

Percoco was found guilty by a jury in March for accepting bribes worth over $300,000 as well as securing favors for friends and family.

It's no secret New York has seen more than it's far share of corruption trials and convictions in just this year alone--

Many candidates seeking office this November have campaigned on anti-corruption platforms, promising to clean up Albany.

But reforms approved to date have not deterred bad actors.

Is six years behind bars a strong enough message, as the sentencing judge suggested, to prevent future offenses?

Discussing Percoco's sentencing is legal analyst Paul Derohannesian of Derohannesian & Derohannesian.
