ORLANDO, Fla. — The Bills playoff drought is over, but owner Terry Pegula says now they have to keep it going. That process is led by Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott, who are in their first full off-season as a GM-head coaching duo.

"The most impressive thing I think that we accomplished was is he and coach are joined at the hip and at the head. They think alike and they're both very thorough people. They can make instantaneous decisions like a coach has to during a game. But they also think stuff out to the point where you say 'wow these guys are very thorough,’" said Pegula.

Pegula joined those two in the search for a franchise quarterback, tagging along for the visits and meeting the prospects—while even throwing in his own expertise.

"I'm an engineer, so I understand science so I'm really into numbers. When I see something that I don't understand or I want clarified, obviously I talk to them. But I bring stuff up to them. I got my stopwatch out, timing passes as best I can,” said Pegula.

An issue spanning beyond the Bills and throughout the NFL this past season were protests during the national anthem. The topic was discussed among the owners here at the Annual Meeting. Pegula said he keeps those conversations in-house, but did reveal a bit of his sentiments.

"We're all Americans. Some people voice themselves differently than I would. I do different things than you would about something that is bothering us. So that's all I can say to that. I respect my players. I respect the players union. We'll try and get a solution that all Americans are happy with,” said Pegula.

As for the latest stadium talks, Pegula says there's always internal discussion on long-term ideas, but there's no plan to opt out of the current lease at New Era Field.
