Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and her 2018 election season challenger Chele Farley have agreed to a debate that will air exclusively on Spectrum News.

This is just Gillibrand's second full-term election after she replaced Hillary Clinton in 2009 and won a special election in 2010 and a full-term bid in 2012. Since becoming New York's junior senator, Gillibrand has been a vocal advocate for sexual assault victims and an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump.

The Democrat didn't face a primary, but will face a Republican challenger in Farley. Farley, who has lived in New York City for the last 25 years, is a financier, having spent time at Goldman Sachs and UBS Capital.

The debate will be live at 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. Capital Tonight's Liz Benjamin and NY1 political anchor Errol Louis will moderate the debate.

In 2012, Gillibrand handily beat challenger Wendy Long with 72.2 percent of the vote.
