ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — According to some retail experts Eastern Hills Mall and Boulevard Mall both face an uncertain future.

The owners of Eastern Hills Malls are looking for a buyer or partner to turn the struggling mall into an upscale lifestyle center, while the Cleveland-based Forest Realty Trust announced it's putting the Boulevard Mall up for sale.

Black Friday shoppers at both malls say there's no sign either one is in trouble.

At McKinley Mall in Hamburg Manager Jeff Ohle knows what it's like to face speculation about the mall's future.

Last year Macy's closed its 88,000 square-foot store and its 31,000 square-foot Home Store at the mall.

"That's just the way it's been for the longest time. You have to expect change and obviously, you get that space, you can reconfigure it, you can add new and different retailers that are now doing well," said McKinley Mall General Manager Jeff Ohle.

Retailers like the locally owned BFLO Store.

"At this time of year, people do come out to the malls instead of little shops here and there. But, they're particularly looking for certain store and we're like a Buffalo store that people are actually excited about because it's about the city and people are coming looking for us and they enjoy shopping in this location," said BFLO Store Assistant Manager Gwen Ruppert.

Local malls and retailers are hoping that momentum will continue through the holiday shopping season.
