NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Family and friends gathered in North Syracuse Sunday to mourn one of the victims of a shooting that rocked the North Country last weekend.

Nichole Walters was 27 years old and lived in Theresa. She was a graduate of North Syracuse Schools and Bryant and Stratton College.

Walters was killed in the same incident that left State Trooper Joel Davis dead.

Her husband, Fort Drum soldier Justin Walters, is facing charges in the case.

Her family and loved ones say they're thankful for the support from the community.

"Sweet girl. Loved by so many. So many people have reached out to help the family and even some of the local businesses have reached out to offer supplies and things for the family," said Lori Poli, family friend.

The family is asking for donations through a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs and to support Walters' three-year-old son.

Funeral services for Trooper Joel Davis were held Saturday.
