It took almost the entire season due to winter weather, however the Binghamton softball team will get a chance to play on its home turf before the season ends.

Binghamton University's Athletic Director, Patrick Elliott, said that the new synthetic turf would have been difficult to install with temperatures below 35 degrees. This delayed the more than $770,000 dollar project and forced the Bearcats to move several scheduled home games.

With that said, contractors conditioned the new field on Tuesday afternoon. With rain expected on Wednesday, contractors will tarp the field and the softball team plans to hit the field Thursday.

Binghamton's next scheduled home game is Friday, May fourth at 2 pm.
