The democratic primary for Tompkins County Sheriff may be over, but both candidates will still appear on the ballot this November.

Undersheriff Derek Osborne beat out incumbent sheriff, Ken Lansing, taking 60 percent of the vote.

However, Lansing still has the Independence line, so on Election Day, the two will face off once more.

Osborne knows he’s still got a long way to go.

“I’ve still got a long road ahead of me," Osborne said. "Winning the Democratic primary is obviously a huge step in the right direction but there still a general election in November. My opponent is still going to be in that on the independence line.  So there still a lot of work to be done for sure.“

In November, there's a third candidate to consider — Josh Brokaw is running on the Truthsayers line.
