Major upgrades are coming to RumbleTown.

"Frankly there were a lot of problems and deficiencies structurally, with the scoreboard, with the field, with the seating. That's a laundry list of problems here that really jeopardized the long-term future of baseball in the city of Binghamton," said Binghamton Mayor Richard David.

Officials announced on Monday a $5.1 million improvement plan for NYSEG stadium in Binghamton.

The upgrades are meant to repair stadium infrastructure and enhance the fan experience.

"I think it brings energy. It demonstrates a commitment from not only the organization but the city. It takes everybody to make something like this happen and that's what is reassuring to me. We've got everybody pushing to make this a success and it's another win for the team, the organization, and the community," said Rumble Ponies President John Hughes.

Other upgrades include new video boards, a new sound system, new fencing and netting.

The players’ clubhouse is also being renovated and the field is being replaced.

The upgrades will be ready for opening day 2019.
