New businesses and apartments are taking over the empty spot on Front Street in Owego.

A cozy boutique, Pilates studio, and real estate business is making up the face of the new Gateway Building.

A fire destroyed the original building back in 2001.

Since then, the space has been empty.

Saturday marked the official opening and ribbon cutting for the new shops.

It's just one of many efforts contributing to the revitalization of downtown Owego.

"The gift shop that's here fits in with everything but has a little bit of a different angle to it and the Pilates studio is something we don't have. So, it's really neat to see these brand new concepts coming here and being able to open up and thrive in Owego," said Rebecca Maggei, Tioga County tourism director.

The Tioga County Tourism Visitor Center is opening offices in the Gateway Building as well.
