Managers at a Broome County Treatment Center believe they are making progress helping people struggling with drug addiction.

The Helio Health Treatment Center opened six months ago. Since then, 385 people have been admitted to the center.

They offer short term in-patient care with stays lasting up to five days. Spectrum News was told more than half the patients are being treated for heroin addictions.

"In Broome Country if you decide that you want to stop using and you need help you will get it here,” said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. “And that's what this treatment center and the rest our providers are offering here."

Helio representatives say 63 percent of patients completed treatment with all patient goals met.
