DEWITT, N.Y. -- The staff at Chili's in DeWitt is getting the chance to say goodbye to their former co-workers.

Thursday, a going away ceremony was held for Stephen Gudknecht. Kris Hick's services will be Saturday.

The two were killed in last weekend's robbery at the DeWitt restaurant.

The usual staff is being given time off to attend their calling hours. In their place, fellow Chili's workers from all over the state and country have stepped in to cover their shifts.

"Yeah the community has been so supportive, the restaurant community, the businesses in the area, the guests here, I'm from Long Island, you know, the small town, they really care about the team members and the people here helping out, it's a very humbling experience,” said Chili's Director of Operations Joe Frisina.

Staff will also get the day off Saurday for the services of Kris Hicks.

Meantime, the case against the accused gunman is moving forward. William Wood Jr. was supposed to be in court Friday but the case was waived to a grand jury.
